Have you ever wondered how you can combine your love of dogs and fitness to create a successful business opportunity? The iPET Network Level 3 Award in Canicross Coaching has been developed to meet the needs of Candidates who have existing canine knowledge and basic fitness, and wish to gain the knowledge, skills and understanding required to become a qualified Canicross Coach, delivering training to others who wish to take part in the canine discipline of Canicross. This qualification provides the ideal platform for establishing your own Canicross Coaching business.

Candidates who complete this qualification will be able to:

• Understand the principles of how to start their own Canicross coaching business

• Recognise their responsibilities in terms of supporting animal welfare and behaviour in accordance with relevant legislation

• Understand how to effectively plan a coaching programme and create training sessions suited to their participants’ experience and skill level

• Recognise the risks to both dogs and humans involved in Canicross and how to manage these risks effectively

• Select and safely fit equipment for Canicross participants (both human and canine)

• Confidently lead a Canicross coaching session

The iPET Network Level 3 Award in Canicross Coaching consists of six mandatory units:

Unit 347: Starting a Canicross Coaching Business 

Unit 348: Legislation, Welfare and Canine Behaviour for the Canicross Coach 

Unit 349: Principles of Planning a Canicross Coaching Programme

Unit 350: Canine First Aid, Incident and Risk Management 

Unit 351: Principles of Canicross Coaching 

Unit 352: Practical Canicross Coaching 

EDUCATION FOR PEOPLE, FOR PETS, FOR THE FUTURE

All Candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • A minimum of 1 year’s canine care experience (this may include dog ownership) and;
  • An awareness of the level of general fitness required of a Canicross coach and;
  • An awareness of canine sports and related disciplines and;
  • A level of understanding to be able to work at Level 3.
