iPET Network Level 3 Certificate in Cat Grooming and Introduction to Styling – Qualification Number 603/7568/1 (link to qualification on Ofqual register)

The qualification is designed for Candidates who wish to gain the skills and knowledge to prepare, style and finish a selections of cat breeds, understand health and safety in a cat grooming salon and gain an understanding of heath checking, handling and feline behaviour. The course is delivered over a number of practical training days with additional theory to be completed at home.

iPET Network are proud to have developed this qualification in the Animal Care and Veterinary Science sector. Candidates will groom at least 8 cats to include a minimum of 3 different breeds, covering 3 different coat types.  There are no pre-requisites to starting the qualification, meaning candidates can join at level 3 without having completed a lower level (level 2) course first.

Candidates will be trained in practical skills such as prepping, bathing, scissoring, clipping, styling and nail trimming on a selection of cat breeds.

327: Assess and Plan Cat Grooming Styles and Maintenance of Equipment

334: Feline Welfare and Health Checking

333: Prepare, Style and Finish a Selection of Cat Breeds

Uniquely, candidates are continually assessed via practical demonstration and coursework. There is no requirement to sit an formal exam in order to achieve the qualification. This holistic approach has been welcomed by candidates to our Training Provider from across the UK, Ireland and Internationally. iPET Network designed the qualification to have an excellent balance of theoretical and practical learning. Feedback suggests that this qualification takes the pressure out of adult learning and this approach appeals to a wide range of Candidates. Our Training Providers are striving to improve industry standards by ensuring Candidates gain the required qualification and become confident and competent in cat grooming.

The iPET Network Level 3 Certificate in Cat Grooming and Introduction to Styling will demonstrate to an employer or the general public that Candidates understand the core principles of Cat Grooming and have been introduced to styling techniques.  Candidates will leave with a foundation of knowledge base to continue learning or working in the Cat Grooming Industry.

It has been designed specifically for those looking to start the journey in Cat Grooming or those who already groom cats (as a hobby) but would like to gain a nationally recognised qualification. 

The units and evidence completed as part of the iPET Network Level 3 Certificate in Cat Grooming and Introduction to Styling can be recognised as prior learning should a Candidate want to progress and complete the iPET Network Level 3 Diploma in Cat Grooming and Salon Management qualification. The Candidate would need to complete an additional minimum 15 days at a Training Provider and complete the following additional units.

Candidates need to have a level of understanding to be able to work at Level 3. There are no other entry requirements.

Fast track route

The iPET Network Level 3 Certificate in Cat Grooming and an Introduction to Styling can be offered as a ‘Fast Track’ option. This is considering the Candidate’s prior attainment and experience. The Candidate needs to demonstrate the following to prove eligibility for the Fast Track option of delivery:
• 1 years’ experience Styling with cats;
• Customer reviews and, or Employers reference;
• Photos of a range of grooms.
