The iPET Network Level 3 End-Point Assessment (EPA) for Keeper and Aquarist is the final assessment for Apprentices completing the Level 3 Keeper and Aquarist Standard. This assessment is designed to confirm that Apprentices have developed the knowledge, practical skills, and professional behaviours required to care for animals within a collection such as a zoo or aquarium.
The EPA includes a multiple-choice test, practical observations and professional discussions that reflect real-world responsibilities. Apprentices are evaluated on their ability to oversee the care and welfare of animals, manage exhibits safely and efficiently, plan and deliver enrichment, and apply best practices in animal health and welfare. The assessment also examines communication and the ability to work collaboratively with visitors, colleagues and stakeholders.
Successfully completing the iPET Network Level 3 EPA demonstrates that Apprentices are industry-ready, capable of taking responsibility for animal care and welfare in zoological and aquatic settings, and equipped to work as competent, confident Keepers or Aquarists in professional environments.
